The New Klezmer ensemble “KLEZNJAZZ “ was launched by the german sax and clarinet player Astrid Pape in 2013.

Astrid is living in Ecuador since 20 years and is director of her Jazzquinttet SUERTE .She works in various Music projects, makes performances for film and radio and works for the international cultural cooperation between Germany and Ecuador.

Her love for the clarinet conduced her now to play Klezmer, the Yiddish- American Wedding music, mixed with own jazzinfluenced compositions, valse and gipsy music.

With her clarinet , alto- and sopranosax and her jazzy voice , Astrid is playing the lines and improvisations of classical klezmer tunes, own compositions and song from the balcany. For special occasions she's accompanied by the virtuos violinplayer Tadashi Maeda, famous japanese musician and director of the Teatro Sucre in Quito. His inspirated improvisations give a special kick to the band.

Edu Donoso, from Ecuador, with his accordeon gives the base and stability of the band, being familiar with german and european musicstyles.

The bassplayer Daniel Torres Tear from Argentina is specialist in ancient music and his formation in diferent music styles permits merging them in his caracteristic way .

The celloplayer Eva Lantsoght comes from Netherlands and gives the classical touch to the music.

Cheo Hernández from Ecuador, is a jazzdrummer, and his versatility in diferent rithms and grooves allowes the free inspirated parts of the compositions.

The trombone is played by Yony Muñoz from Colombia, experienced in sinfonic music .

The Band with its program “KASI KOSHER” brings a lot of energy and a special humor to the stage !
